Headache Support Groups
Each year, millions of Americans experience either intermittent or chronic headaches. Yet, when you have a headache, it's easy to feel isolated and overwhelmed by the pain. The important thing you need to know is that you are not alone.
Just like there are several types of headaches, there are several type-specific support groups across the country, and it does matter which one you choose. Someone who suffers from cluster headaches will not share the same experience or have the same needs as someone who's headaches are rooted in a brain injury or perhaps TMD/TMJ. So, when looking for a support group, it is important that you focus your efforts not only in finding a reputable group, but one that focuses on your specific headache type.
You may wonder what these groups could possibly have to offer, other than a place to complain. Well, most of the larger, specialized support groups can provide resources and information covering everything from medical advancements, clinical studies and treatment options to physician referrals in your area.
A great place to start your search online is on sites such as Headache Central and The National Headache Foundation, where you can access some great resources for finding emotional, informational and referral support.
If you live in Alabama, Nebraska, California, Illinois, Texas, Utah or Northern Virginia, and would like to meet with one of our headache specialists regarding your headache symptoms, please contact us at I Hate Headaches, today.
